• “Lovely”A most pleasant hotel so convenient to visit Powerscourt and the charming village of Enniskerry. The staff was extremely helpful and courteous. Breakfast was a delicious full Irish breakfast in addition to fresh fruit, smoked salmon, and pastries.

  • “Possibly my favourite hotel”
5 of 5 starsI have stayed at the Summerhill on 5 occasions including on my wedding night. Each time I have stayed there I have been majorly impressed with the quality of customer service that we have experienced as well as the attentiveness of staff. The food in the restaurant is always superb and large portions which is a nice change from some hotels that try to rip you off with small portion sizes.

The Summerhill is quite possibly my favourite hotel and I am looking forwards to returning many more times.

  • “Wonderful hotel in lovely town”
5 of 5 starsHad a lovely time, hotel was beautiful and clean, breakfast was absolutely delicious. We took our two small children, and decided to share a family room, was slightly smaller than we thought as we had to fit in a travel cot also (although the travel cot was provided) but our older daughter enjoyed it thoroughly, the staff were friendly especially a lovely waitress in the restaurant who served both evening and morning of the nights that we stayed.

  • “Idyllic Stay”
4 of 5 starsThis inn is tucked down a road covered in foliage and sits on land with the most beautiful views of Ireland. The hotel staff is very accommodating during operating hours. I stayed in the apartment like rooms towards the back of the hotel. There was limited internet connection, therefore if this is work related then I suggest staying in the main part of the hotel. As for food, the breakfast is amazing and included with your stay. The bar is a great place to have a drink before you go to the downtown area.
Room Tip:The apartment like rooms in the back of the hotel are very private and easy to access.

  • “Summerhill House Hotel”
5 of 5 starsThe ambiance on entering the Hotel is relaxed and welcoming and the decor is beautiful. The staff are so friendly and obliging without being ostentatious. The Spa experience was second to none. I had my eighty year old Mother with me and this was her first Spa experience and she loved it. The food was scrumptious and plentiful. All areas of hotel are spotless clean and the furnishings are luxuriant. The outdoor area is beautiful with plenty of seating. Thank you all so much for a lovely stay. We will be back in the near future. I am envisioning the Christmas period in your hotel with log fires and a big Christmas tree. We will definitely be down then if you open over Christmas. I was very impressed overall.

  • 4 of 5 stars We stayed here for one night one a package including a massage at the spa and use of the facilities, afternoon tea, dinner and breakfast. We had a lovely stay! Any staff member we met was more than helpful, chatty and friendly. We had a particularly lovely waitress during dinner! We were really happy with the afternoon tea, and the menu selection in the restaurant for dinner.
We booked a king room - and it actually was a king-sized bed, not just two mattresses pushed together like you often get! The room was clean and very comfortable. Lovely location! We're from the area so didn't explore from the hotel, but there are lots of beautiful walks nearby and the village of Enniskerry is lovely. Not too far from Dublin city too if you fancied a break from the countryside!
Room Tip:The king room was very spacious and comfortable

  • 4 of 5 stars Had a great stay! Did the mother and daughter package with an extra nights stay was excellent value. The spa is lovely and the view from the hot tub is spectacular. Only reason I didn't give full marks was that on the 2nd night the fire alarms went off all through the night and not much was done to apologise or let us know what was happening. But will certainly visit again! :) Feb 2014

5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2014 Enjoyed our night here, place is lovely, right beside powerscourt estate and 10min walk to enniskerry. The staff were helpful and nice, no complaints. They were also kind enough to ring the week before our stay to let us know that the restaurant was booking up if we wanted to book dinner there

We got married in the summer hill house hotel in november 2013. I could not fault it on anything, everyone was looked after so well, everything was just perfect. The staff cluld not have been more helpful. I stayed with my parents, bridesmaids, and some other family memebrs the night before and the restaurant was superb. The morning of the wedding they were so lovely. The wedding meal was gorgeous, i was told by several people itw as the best wedding meal they ever had. There was so much wine no one went without.
The location is gorgeous. We got a very wet day and the big open fires and fabulous drinks reception made it just so cosy.
The drinks reception was the best iv ever seen. With tea coffee cocktails hot and cold canapes and a candy cart and chocolate fountain. Was amazing. Nobody was left bored or hungry.
I cant fault them On anything.

We spent 4 nights here at the beginning of September, associated with a Dublin wedding with the Reception held at the Hotel. It has a lovely 'country house' feel to it and the picture of its frontage belies the size of the building within. We had a very comfortable room on the ground floor, generously proportioned and well appointed to a very good standard. The staff were very friendly and really made us feel welcome. Buffet breakfast served at civilised hours...till 10 am..and a comprehensive choice of food. The catering all round was excellent and the meal served at the Wedding Reception was one of the best 'function meals' we have had....ever.
We would love to go back for another visit......a great place to chill out for a few days in beautiful countryside.

Two friends and I went for a two night midweek birthday treat. The hotel seemed to be empty except for us. Our triple room( 202) was huge and excellently appointed. Staff were very pleasant. We enjoyed visiting the Powerscourt estate with the garden centre and Avoca shop. We also visited the nearby Powerscourt hotel for a sumptuous afternoon tea. Weather was perfect for walking and the nearby St Patricks Churchyard is peaceful and had some very we preserved graves covered in beautiful wild cyclamen at this time of year.

We were a group of eleven ladies, who meet up once year and catch up on each others news. We were given rooms on the same floor, which was great. The staff were terrific, really helpful and friendly. Thanks to the barman on our first night there Friday 20, a young dark haired chap, who I think may have been called David. He put up with our singing in the bar until 5 am!!!

The breakfast was excellent. There was so much variety... smoked salmon, various kinds of cheese and bread and crackers. cereal, yogurts, croissants, scones, PLUS a hot breakfast buffet, consisting of real butchers rashers (bacon), sausages, black and white pudding, mushrooms, beans, eggs, scrambled, boiled, poached and fried and tomatoes. There was even freshly made pancakes available also.

The bar food menu was very good, with a selection of sandwiches, soups, chips, wraps etc.
Thanks to all the staff for a great weekend.

From the moment we made contact with the Hotel, it seemed that nothing would be too much trouble. From the moment we arrived at the Hotel, we were delighted with everything it had to offer.. Our rooms were large and well appointed, the staff warm and friendly. The meals in the restaurant were exceptional, and the evening bar in the lounge was perfect for us all to gather. Thankyou for a very pleasant stay at you Hotel, we will most definitely all be back when we are back in Ireland together, and I know that the local family there plan on future returns to your Hotel also.. Attended the hotel for a friends wedding ... It was beautiful, in a quiet country setting only 30 minutes by bus from the busy city of Dublin. Regular buses run from the city.
The house itself had a grand reception area which was decorated for christmas with a huge 9 ft christmas tree and log fire with big comfy couches. The staff were incredibly friendly couldn't do more to help their guests. Our room was in one of the court yard buildings it was a mini flat... beautiful bedroom overlooking the countryside, new looking bathroom with fantastic power shower, living area with fireplace and small kitchen attached. More than I expected for the price we paid.
The breakfast was one of the best I've had - buffet style with fresh food constantly being prepared and the selection of food was fantastic.
The wedding was fantastic in the main wedding suite, decoration was perfect and the food although produced on a mass scale was unbelievably amazing best wedding food i've ever eaten, I would definitely be back to stay at the hotel highly recommend it to anyone
  • What a gem!”
    5 of 5 starsReviewed 15 January 2013
It was my second time in this hotel and for sure it won't be the last one. We went there with my husband for a week end break and we really enjoyed it. This hotel is a gem hidden at the top of a hill surrounding the charmant little town of Enniskerry. As soon as you passed the entrance, you get into another world. This hotel is decorated in a way to relax and feel like home. We enjoyed sitting in one of the living rooms and make the most of the chimney fire. The staff was really friendly, smiling and helpful. The room we had was located at the first floor and was very spacious. Bed was very comfortable. During the day it was a little bit cold in the bedroom, but it was fine at night. The three courses meal we had at night was excellent, and what to say about the breakfast! a lot of choice to please anybody.
If you go there, do not hesitate to try the Rainforest Spa just down beside the hotel. The staff is very friendly and professionnal, and the choice of treatments you can have is very large to suit the needs of anybody.
To finish, this hotel is very well located, both Enniskerry and Powerscourt gardens can be easily reached by feet.
I definitely recommand this hotel to anybody who is looking for a relaxing and lovely break.
